The
practice is also responsible for inspecting over 90 churches many
of these are listed medieval church buildings. This ensures that
we are continuously involved in a wide range of challenging building
conservation and repair projects. Ranging from renewal of lead
sheet roofs, complex stonework repairs, structural repairs and
the repair and conservation of historic leaded painted and stained
glass. We also specialise in supporting Christian and other religious
communities in the extension and reordering of the interior of
their places of worship and ancillary rooms. Providing new toilet
and kitchen facilities, meeting rooms and other community and
social facilities. Sometimes we simply help people to prioritise
and make best use of the facility they already have.
Currently
we are involved in the conservation and repair of nationally important
stained glass windows at Norbury. The eight chancel windows date
from 1305 and provide a near complete set of painted and stained
heraldic glass that is second to none in England. The project
as whole has cost in excess of £400,000. Including the renewal
of the lead sheet roofs, improvements to the surface water drainage
system involving an extensive archaeological dig and the renewal
of the central heating and ventilation system.
